WILL SHARE HIS STORY AS AUTHORED IN THE BIG BOOK story TITLED “GROUNDED”, page 522. “From an alcoholic home in Kansas WWII housing project Lyle P. rose from a Private in the US Marine Corp. to a commissioned officer, jet fighter pilot and decorated Vietnam veteran. He reached the pinnacle of commercial aviation as a captain for Northwest Airlines before a subtle slide into alcoholism culminated with an event that thrust him into the media spotlight with headlines all over the world. Shamed, disgraced and stripped of his FFA credentials, he became the first commercial pilot arrested, tried and convicted for flying drunk. The trial judge imposed sanctions to ensure he would never fly again. He spent 16 months in the Federal Prison System.”
