August 3 - August 7
Its the 65th Florida State Convention!! Check out the venue website attached in the BIO!
Welcome to the 65th Florida state convention. We have been working on this convention for the last two years. All our volunteers have pitched in to make this event a memorable experience. We hope that you enjoy the fabulous speakers, workshops and, of course, the marathon meetings. We have a demographically diverse group of people, who normally would not mix, but here we all are. We offer a young people room with workshops, meetings, and fellowship; a Spanish speaking room with workshops, meetings, and fellowship; an LBGTQ room with workshops, meetings, and fellowship; and of course, let’s not forget our al-anon room with workshops, meetings, and fellowship. Be sure to register for our sporting events that all begin Saturday morning. We have our beach volleyball, beach corn hole and walk run which are all being held on the beautiful Fort Lauderdale beach. And then we have our golf tournament which will be held at the Greg Norman signature pines course again this year. Lots of competitive sober fun for all participants and observers. Another part of the Florida state convention is our banquets and ice cream socials. These occur Friday and Saturday nights. This is where friends old and new get to enjoy time together to make new memories and share old ones. Your registration at this event also includes entertainment events each evening. You certainly won’t want to miss the finale on Saturday night with the ever-changing service manual the musical followed by a dance with a live band to kick it off and a DJ that will keep you dancing the night away. We are not a glum lot. Sum it all up with our Sunday morning meeting and the passing of the gavel to the next group of volunteers for the 66th Florida state convention, august 10 – 13, 2023. In closing – when you leave here, we hope you take with you all your new memories, and remember what one of our co-founders, Dr. Bob said in his farewell talk: “I hope very much that the presence of so many people and the words that you have heard will prove an inspiration to you – not only to you, but may you be able to impart that inspiration to the boys and girls back home who were not fortunate enough to be able to come. In other words, we hope that your visit here has been both enjoyable and profitable. ” – Dr. Bob with lots of gratitude, love and service,
Karen V. , Chair, and the 65th Florida State Convention Team
